Tuesday, September 24, 2013 – Peshawar—Nasir Khan Durrani appointed as Inspector-General (IG) Police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is passing through a very difficult period in its history. Beside its Primary job of fighting crime, it is facing numerous challenges including terrorism, natural calamities, reaction arising out of price hike and power crises. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is playing a pivotal role in the war against terror. Whether it is Swat which witnessed the brutal onslaught of militants or Peshawar which jolts with ruthless explosions and suicide attacks, it is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police which has always risen to the occasion and has fought courageously to eradicate the menace of militancy.

I am indeed very proud to command such a gallant and committed Police force, the history of which is replete with innumerable sacrifices for the motherland.

In order to meet the imminent challenges of terrorism and growing crime, it is a dire need to equip the Police with latest and state of the art technologies.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police envisions using Information Technology as change agent and has launched a number of projects including automation of police stations, finger print records, driving licenses and e-ticketing. This would enable Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to address the challenges of 21st century in a befitting manner.

Another initiative of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is the launches of its official website which will not only improve the working of Police by ensuring transparency but will also pave the way for better liaison with the citizens. All our efforts are directed towards bringing peace and improving the quality of life of its citizens.

Region is passing through the most critical juncture of its history. The world is keenly monitoring the sea changes and developments taking place in picturesque region in the wake of newly emerging scenario after successfully flushing out the militants. Now both the Government as well as the public expects Malakand Region Police to ensure lasting and durable peace in the valley which has witnessed worst kind of butchery, loot and plunder at the hands of militants. The task is enormously challenging and requires commitment, courage and out-of-box solutions.

However, it is very encouraging to note that police of Malakand Region is striving hard to equip itself with the latest skills and techniques. The variety

of initiatives taken for the capacity building of the force are matchless and, I am sure, will go a long way in developing its skill. Now it is a pleasure to hear that Malakand police has taken yet another inspiring initiative of launching its own official website.

I am sure that launching a website will open new avenues of collection and dissemination of information. It will help the police in numerous ways. On one hand, it will keep the public informed about the policing activities, policing issues and challenges and on the other hand, it will give the public an opportunity to express its view about police and policing. It must be appreciated that in policing, public is the end-user therefore all efforts need to be made to keep public on board. Now the Malakand police will be able to get guidance from the general public to devise strategies and to effectively curb the menace of crime as well as militancy.

I congratulate Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman, DIG Malakand and his team for this step which is direly needed in today’s era of technology. I hope that people will enjoy visiting the website and benefit from it. I also hope that this interaction would enable the Malakand police to further improve its service delivery.
